Katrina Sedgwick OAM appointed Chair of CAIAF

The Confederation of Australian International Arts Festivals (CAIAF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Katrina Sedgwick OAM as Chair, succeeding Richard Evans AM after twelve years of distinguished voluntary service.
Katrina brings extensive experience in arts and cultural leadership to the role. Since 2022, she has served as the inaugural Director and CEO of Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation (MAP Co), where she oversees the delivery of Australia’s largest arts infrastructure project and the management of Federation Square. Her career has also included leadership roles as Director and CEO of ACMI and Head of Arts for ABC Television, alongside leadership of numerous arts and screen festivals. She is currently a member of the ABC Board and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2020.
“I am honoured to accept the role of Chair of CAIAF. Australia’s major festivals play a critical role in commissioning and presenting ambitious new Australian work, supporting artists and connecting audiences,” Katrina said. “I look forward to working with CAIAF members, Creative Australia and artists to continue strengthening this important national platform.”
CAIAF extends its sincere thanks to outgoing Chair Richard Evans AM for his remarkable contribution over twelve years. His leadership strengthened collaboration between member festivals across Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand, championed new Australian work and helped guide the Confederation and its members through the unprecedented challenges of COVID.
Katrina’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for CAIAF and its work supporting collaboration between Australia’s major international arts festivals and the development and presentation of exceptional new Australian work.
